An Introduction To Me
Introduction:
Hello! My name is Allison, and I am currently a sophomore at
Saginaw Valley State University. I am studying to become an elementary school
teacher, specifically upper elementary. Currently I am in the process of taking
all the necessary courses to be able to apply for the college of education. That
is why I am enrolled in English 212, this course looks into the process of
critical reading and writing as well as analyzing student and professional
texts. As a teacher the skills being taught will be very beneficial as I will need
to be okay with many people seeing my writing and I need to have a strong critical
thinking basis. In my free time, I really enjoy baking and photography. I like
to take photos of animals like my dog Cooper and take photos of nature or architecture.
I enjoy exploring and traveling to new places, as of now I have been to 7
countries and about half of the states.
Reflection on my experience writing:
As I have been writing since I was young, I have amassed quite
a bit of experience and skills over the years. However, I find with each class
that is writing heavy, I improve upon my skills greatly. My favorite type of
writing is the kind that is personal and just for me, like journaling. I enjoy
just writing about my day or finding a prompt to delve deeper into my memories
and think more about moments in my life. The types of writing that I have
disliked the most throughout the years have been descriptive writings. Having
to try and paint a picture in a reader’s mind is very difficult for me as I
cannot visualize and see if what I am saying is a good enough picture.
Tools used when writing:
When I am writing I don’t use many tools. My writing process
is very basic as I get a prompt and think for a bit on how I want to answer it.
Then after getting my initial answer down, I usually will have come up with a
few questions in brainstorming and look those up on google. After using google
and the different websites for a while, I use Word to type out my answer. This
is what I do for every type of writing, with the only exception being my
journaling. Due to the personal nature of journaling I like to handwrite my
feelings in a nice journal which motivates me to write most days. Being able to
look online for more information has made writing easier as I am able to find
additional topics to mention based on what I looked up.
Questions for the semester:
When I go into a class, I never have any questions because I
haven’t had anything to provoke any feelings just yet. In the introductory
class we briefly looked at what would be covered each class, which has made me
excited for the course. I am excited to look into the analysis of handwriting
and trying out book binding.
